KOHLER,
Wis. --
The Edgewood College men's golf team captured
its first-ever
Lake Michigan Conference Championship Monday at
the Irish Course at Whistling Straits. The Eagles led runner-up Milwaukee School
of Engineering by six strokes after the first day, and almost tripled their lead
to finish the two-day event with a total of 633, 17 strokes better than MSOE's
650.
Wisconsin Lutheran College rounded out the top-three
with a score of 705. Concordia University (728), Marian College (732) and
Lakeland College (770) finished fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively. Edgewood

MSOE'S MAUPIN BREAKS SCHOOL RECORDS
HARTFORD,
Wis. -- MSOE golfer Scott Maupin (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha West) had the round of
his life, shooting a 65 on his way to winning the
Wisconsin Lutheran
Invitational, held at the Washington County Golf Course. Maupin turned in a
combined score of 134, 10 under par, breaking both the school record of low
score in a single round and low score for a two-round total.
MSOE Head Coach Joe Meloy was nearly
speechless after Maupin’s performance on Monday. “Tremendous,” Meloy
said of Maupin’s performance. “I think the score speaks for itself.”
MSOE won the 11-team event, scoring a
two-day total 572, breaking another school record. Carthage College
finished second (609), followed by Edgewood College (622) in third.
Raider sophomore Eric Macias (Mexico
City, Mexico/ITESM) finished in second place with a 2-under par 142 with
freshman Paul Rothering (New Berlin, Wis./New Berlin West) shooting a 36
hole total 146, good enough for third overall.
An enthusiastic Meloy said, “Although
this is the first week of the season, I think this is a great way to get
started.”
